Film or Digital?
The eternal question of the new millennium is still... Film or Digital?
[sigh]
Answer: Yes; which is to say we shoot both.
Here is the scoop. We decide with you which tool is better for the project and we use that tool.
You are not going to get a blanket BS answer here, like:
"We went all digital back in '98!"
or worse...
"We shoot all digital because it is better!"
I think both of those canned responses are silly.
There are pros and cons to each. Lately we are shooting 25% film & 75% digital.
To prove this point, beside shooting digital, we have also shot commercial jobs using:
large format, medium format, small format, 35mm and 16mm and 8mm motion picture film, digital video, transparency, negative and polaroid.
It all just depends on what is BEST suited for your specific project.
• What look will best tell the story?
• What workflow will best accomplish our shots on set?
• What files size will best match up with the final advertising media?
• And what is the best game plan in post?
These are the questions that mean something.
