SAW 1.5 decades

While in STL recently, I pounded the pavement (old skool) showing my book around town.

One of the meetings I lined up was with Joe, a creative director I meet 15 years ago, when I was just getting started as a commercial shooter.

It was pretty far out to reconnect with him. I mean, hey, 15 years is 15 years. How do you sum that up? Well, it doesn’t really matter now because we are [all] in the same boat now. btw, the name of the boat is “2009.”

The meeting was a hoot. Joe’s energy was the same grounded, cool, calm that I liked when we first met. But here is the kicker. Joe presented me with my own business card that I gave him 15 years ago!

I joked about being ‘mortified’ as he passed me my card, knowing the design was going to be oh, so 1994. Sure enough it was/is. Yet, when I held the card in my hand, it was also kinda powerful. And I was flattered to not be weeded out of his rolodex.

Then when I flipped the card over, nostalgia hit hard. There it was—in black ink hand stamped on linen stock—my PAGER number. I exclaimed, “Oh dear, Joe, you’ve got my old pager number... need to get you the new one!” ;-)

Showing my book in person is SO much more fun than counting visitors to my website. Good times.
